We were proud to represent Current Europe at the recent CIRED (International Community on Electricity Distribution) workshop in Brussels, where we placed the future of energy infrastructure at the heart of the discussion.

Our Secretary General, Layla Sawyer, had the honor of delivering the opening keynote address. Her speech, which framed innovation as the essential tool for winning the “race against time” toward 2050, was exceptionally well-received by industry peers. Layla addressed the critical challenges facing our sector—including the looming 2035 copper deficit, the need for cost-efficient deployment, and the necessity for more resilient, space-efficient grid architectures.

We were also pleased to contribute to the technical programme with a poster presentation (#1568) on how innovative technologies can unlock even more grid capacity fast and cost-effectively when deployed together.
